Please make sure you consult reliable resources, such as Sundays Energy, when researching biodiesel. Many websites pertaining to biodiesel exist, so please double check any and all information.
Biodiesel fuel will not have the same effects on every vehicle. Because every engine is different, Sundays Energy makes no specific claims about individual emissions or performance when burning our fuel. Biodiesel has been demonstrated to reduce emissions in many applications, but no guarantee is being made by Sundays Energy. Because the BTU value of biodiesel can be slightly less than that of #2 petrodiesel, a small loss of power and fuel economy (around 7%) might be experienced, although this is mitigated by biodiesel's higher lubricity, oxygen level, cetane number and cleaning properties.
Biodiesel will, over time, dissolve most types of paint. For this reason, Sundays Energy recommends keeping a clean, soft, dry rag on hand when fueling to gently wipe off any spillage. When the rag becomes soaked with biodiesel, put it in a dark, closed storage container while awaiting proper disposal. Do not leave fuel-soaked rags crumpled up in the sun. Under such conditions, the rags are prone to spontaneous combustion due to oxidation and the heat generated during that process.
Over time, biodiesel will degrade natural rubber components in older vehicles' fuel systems faster than petroleum diesel. These components include but are not limited to hoses, seals, and o-rings. Most diesel vehicles made after 1993 use synthetic components, eliminating this problem. Please contact the manufacturer for answers on specific parts. Should your rubber components need replacement, we recommend viton substitutes. Call us for more information.
Biodiesel, in this document, is defined as 100% biodiesel (B100). Anti-gel additives are available pre-blended and/or separately upon request. If you would like to use an additive in your fuel, for whatever reason, we recommend you call us so we can share with you the benefit of our experience. Sundays Energy cannot be held responsible for any liabilities concerning biodiesel that has had ANY additives (including vegetable oil, biodiesel produced by another party, and/or any brand of petroleum diesel) put in by someone other than us (or our distributors). If you plan on blending our biodiesel with petroleum diesel, remember: The better quality the diesel, the better the blend. To ensure quality, we can supply biodiesel pre-blended.
In addition to the above precautions and disclaimers, Sundays Energy reminds you that many mechanics have not heard of biodiesel, nor worked on vehicles using it as fuel. Sundays Energy cannot be held responsible for any misdiagnoses or repairs, necessary or unnecessary. To save yourself time, money, and further problems, call us first with your concerns.
